Practice outside of formal training is the biggest catalyst for accelerated development.

The time a player spends practising outside of training is one of the biggest indicators of potential. Players who don't practice are just playing for fun, and only want to improve at a rate that their natural talent allows. That's fine, and it is always good to know where players are at in terms of their desire to improve.

Every player wants to be better, but most players in reality only ever do the bare minimum and after this hope for the best.

The tech challenges offer players the opportunity to do more, if they want to. Players, who do the challenges but don't send in the videos, are definitely way ahead of players who don't even attempt the challenges.

The videos however add an extra level because it offers the coaching team a concrete indicator of practice outside of training. Without this, we do not get to see a players dedication to the game, the team and to development. If we don't see a video then we can only presume there has been no practice and that players are not that invested in their development, and that we have to treat them accordingly.
