Defending
Expalin what the following Defending terminolgy means?
How many defenders do we need on the defencive line when defending?
Defensive shuffle - we lose possession in middle third; Ball starts wide
Defensive shuffle - we have possession in middle third; Ball is wide
Defensive shuffle - lose possession in middle third; Ball is wide
Defensive shuffle - trap ball in def third; Ball is wide
Note ; 6 and W on non ball side are interchangeable. It might make sense to have the more attacking player higher and the more defencive player on the defencive line.
They escape the trap
This a dangerous moment. We need to get organised and behind the ball asap. The opposition will switch quickly to attack the weak side. need to stop this and make them play back.
They switch the play
Set up a new trap
Defensive shuffle - as the Ball is switched (Thi is the high 8 rotation)
we have possession in middle third; Ball is wide
ball moves to low 8
ball moves to low 6
ball moves to W (opposite side)
Defencive shuffle - we do not have possession in our defencive third; Ball is wide
Defencive positioning - free kick in wide area
Defencive positioning - corner
Defending balls that come out into the hot spot (Crosses):
Must set up the defensive Triangle to protect the goal when ball comes in.
Remember
Rules create a system [frameowrk] that everyone can work within and provide a base on which creativety within a framework can shine. Know the rules, so you can break the rules when it will have the greatest impact.
