You must master Basic FFPs to coach the next level up :

11 basic FFPs introduced as Basic Ball Mastery Exercises

If you cant demo, progress and 'teach*' FFPs then you can't coach at TST.

[*Teach - means you need to be able to watch and correct and improve errors when players perform these footwork patterns. Proper technical coaching is not just about saying 'try this and no now try this and now this'. You need to look for errors and offer players a way to improve their technique. Without feedback on their technique, without pushing the boundaries of their technique, then it is not TST coaching.]

You also need to understand that we only develop FFPs . Below is 11 of these (as ball mastery exercises, there are a few more, these are fully outlined later).

Sometimes other ball mastery exercises are a stepping stone to an FFP, that's ok as long as that is all they are. But some common ball mastery exercises are BANNED at TST (these are covered on the next page) because they are not and never will be game functional, and in fact create bad technical habits moving forward.

Also note now: The game is about 'space'. Footwork is just a tool in this process. TST is not a 1v1 program - it is a space manipulation program, so when you teach FFPs or play tech games, make sure you constantly refer back to the fact that footwork manipulates time and space so that players make a better pass.

Players who think TST is about 1v1s will eventually have to go through a period where their mindset is changed to a more team orientated mindset, where they understand taht the whole point of the game is to release the ball to improve the position of the ball.
